Sarah Rankin

Perthshire cook, broadcaster and author’s exciting next step

Kinross chef, food writer and broadcaster Sarah Rankin’s second cookbook, ‘Feast: Recipes that bring joy’ is published today (Oct 2nd) with the ex-MasterChef finalist gearing up for a whirlwind fortnight.

‘Feast’, a beautifully crafted and heartfelt collection of 15 curated menus, follows on from Sarah’s highly successful debut, ‘Kith’ (April 2024) and offers personal insights into her cooking philosophy.

‘This book is about more than recipes — it’s about the moments we create when we cook for others,’ says Sarah. ‘It’s a celebration of produce, seasonal rhythms, and the joy of getting people around a table, either for a celebration, or for no good reason. Which is of course the best reason of all.”

Written in her trademark warm narrative style, ‘Feast’ offers practical inspiration and nearly 100 ready-to-use menus for cooks of all levels, providing a perfect guide to effortless entertaining.

The menus also incorporate the author’s passion for quality seasonal ingredients, something she espoused in an earlier article for Perthshire Business News, click here.

Trilogy of appearances

The publication of the book comes in a fortnight where her feet will barely touch the ground.

This weekend she is MC at the 32nd World Porridge Making Championship, The Golden Spurtle, in Carrbridge Village Hall, with Chris Ormiston hoping to defend his title.

She will also appear on BBC Radio 4 Kitchen Cabinet this Saturday (4th October) before guesting on BBC Radio 4 Loose Ends with Clive Anderson on Saturday October 10th.

‘Feast: Recipes that bring joy’ is published by Birlinn and is available on Hardback, click here
