Scottish singer-songwriter Callum Beattie is to headline next year’s Heartland Festival in Ballinluig in a coup for festival organisers.

Fresh from performing at the opening of the Commonwealth Games and with a new studio album and sell-out gigs behind him, Beattie will be the main event on the Saturday evening as Heartland switches venue for the first time in its history.

It is a top musical ‘signing’ for the Heartland team, making up for the recent disappointment of having to postpone sister festival, Replay, in Perth, until May next year.

‘Rising Star’

Edinburgh-born Beattie’s reputation has soared since his debut single, ‘We Are Stars’ in 2017 and his maiden album, People Like Us, in 2020.

Last November he played to 12 000 fans at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro and he sold out Edinburgh Castle earlier this summer.

A recent highlight was his performance of ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’ at the Commonwealth Games opener in Glasgow and an acclaimed performance at Belladrum, abetted by a local choir.

Connection

His anthemic songs and lyrics that connect with everyday lives have seen his popularity rise, with nearly 200 000 followers on social media and a devoted fanbase.

Hit songs include ‘Salamander Street’ and ‘Some Heroes Don’t Wear Capes’ and second album, ‘VANDALS’ reached number 1 in the Scottish album and iTunes charts.
