Irreverent BBC stars bound for Pitlochry

Alan Cumming is set to host the first event of a year-long ‘In Conversation’ series which will help fund his maiden year as Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s Artistic Director.

Next month, on Sunday 28th September, the BAFTA winner will host stars of BBC Radio Scotland’s satirical football show, ‘Off the Ball’, Stuart Cosgrove and Tam Cowan.

The irreverent pair have been spearheading the popular programme for over 30 years and have had Holywood actor Cumming on the show previously as a guest. Now the pair are returning the favour and will head to Scotland’s only rurally-located major arts organisation next month, with tickets costing £25.

Funding stream for the charity

Importantly for the Theatre, it will bring in much needed funds to help support Cumming’s first full programme as Artistic Director, in 2026.

Other ‘In Conversation’ events will be timetabled throughout the year, to bolster the Theatre’s efforts at an exciting time, as it also celebrates its 75th anniversary next year.

PBN reported last month that the Theatre, which attracts 100 000 visitors per year, was on track to achieve a £2m revenue target, see.

“Tam and Stuart are hilarious, irreverent, and even just the timbre of their voices and their vocabulary make me howl with laughter and I could listen to them all day,” said Cumming.

“This fundraiser is a beautiful gesture by them to support me and my plans for my first season of work at Pitlochry Festival Theatre and a great chance for everyone who loves football and comedy to witness, in the flesh, these petty and ill-informed football titans!”

An Evening with Off the Ball’s Tam Cowan and Stuart Cosgrove, Sunday 28th Sept, 7pm, Auditorium. General tickets £25. Meet and Greet Tickets £50.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 01796 484626 or by visiting www.pitlochryfestivaltheatre.com
