Perthshire’s leading stars of stage and screen are to perform together at Pitlochry in a world premiere next year.
Alan Cumming and Ewan McGregor will take to the boards for a stage adaptation of the film, Supernova, which was voted one of the best 100 British films of the 21st Century.
Originally starring Colin Firth as Sam and Stanley Tucci as Tusker, Supernova follows the pair, together for 20 years, on a road trip as Tusker’s early dementia diagnosis begins to change their lives together.
Touching and intimate, the story explores the lengths we are willing to go for the people we love.

Alan Cumming, Artistic Director at Pitlochry Festival Theatre, is a Tony, Olivier, BAFTA and Emmy award winning actor and star of Traitors US.
Trainspotting star Ewan McGregor is an Emmy and Golden Globe award winner and the prospect of them working together on Harry Macqueen’s adaptation is mouthwatering for fans.
“I am so excited to welcome Ewan, a fellow Perthshire home boy, to Pitlochry Festival Theatre for this extraordinary theatre event,” said Cumming.
“A love story, a treatise on life and death itself and a visual feast- with two Scottish laddies at its heart. What more could you want?!”
Ewan McGregor added: “I am so delighted to be working at Pitlochry Festival Theatre next summer on the beautiful ‘Supernova’ with my old friend Alan.
“I can’t wait to get started and bring this piece to the stage.”

The play will debut on 24th July and run until 21st August next year. For tickets, visit: pitlochryfestivaltheatre.com
