A new terminus in Pitlochry to signify the end of the Rob Roy Way has been officially opened by First Minister John Swinney.
The long distance trail from Drymen to Pitlochry is named after famous Scottish outlaw Rob Roy MacGegor and spans 79 miles.
The Pitlochry Partnership, which markets the town’s events and offerings, has been planning a fitting finale to the trail which ends at the War Memorial Gardens.
Walkers reaching the finish line will now experience a photographic Archway, Bench and Information Panel.
Pitlochry High School pupils have been instrumental in the design process.
Dylan McMenemie designed the Arch and Struan MacCartney designed the bench.
The final element, the Information panel, was put in place last week and designed by Jules Akel of Dalwhinnie, assisted by Jacquetta Megarry of The Rob Roy Way.
It carries information on the trail and local connections to Rob Roy in Perthshire.
Sally Spaven and Iain Walker of the Pitlochry Partnership, who led on the project, said;
“We are delighted after so many years to have a fitting terminus to the Rob Roy Way here in beautiful Pitlochry.
“It has taken a bit longer due to the pandemic, but we hope the hundreds of walkers who complete the trail every year from all around the world will enjoy the feature and take home photos and happy memories of the trail and learn a little of our amazing local history.”
