The inaugural Scone Palace International Horse Trials this week is predicted to bring £3m into the Perthshire economy, with a three year live streaming deal also secured.
After 33 years at Blair Castle, Scotland’s newest equestrian event will take place over 4 days at Scone Palace and Perth racecourse grounds, from Thursday to Sunday.
And with long range weather forecasts looking positive, the inaugural event is expected to net £3m, with 50 000 visitors set to descend upon the historic venue.
Not only is the star cast of international riders expected to lure equestrian fans – amounting to 25 000 bed nights overall – organisers have also negotiated a three year contract for the event to be broadcast LIVE.
The deal with streaming partner, ClipMyHorse.tv, means those not able to attend in person will still see all the action which will include double Olympic team gold medallists Laura Collett and London 52.
Markus Detering, CEO of ClipMyHorse.TV, said: “It’s wonderful to bring another world-class eventing competition to a global audience with ClipMyHorse.TV.
“We’re thrilled to be live streaming the Scone Palace International Horse Trials for the first time — and for the next three years — and are truly grateful to the passionate organisers for the opportunity to showcase the very best of the sport to viewers everywhere.”
The event team have been flat out for weeks, ensuring the venue is ready for the maiden show, with some unique carved jumps including local touchstones such as salmon and beavers.
The competitive field will include top riders from the USA, China, Japan, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway and Brazil, as well as leading Brits such as Izzy Taylor and Emily King.
In 2024, the hugely popular Blair Castle International Horse Trials wound up after 33 years, creating a huge void in the Scottish eventing and Perthshire tourism calendar.
However, the return, with a new venue and new feel will be hugely welcomed by equestrian fans and families looking for inspiring days out.
Whilst not on the same scale as events such as Burghley and Badminton in England, organisers aim to make the Scone Palace International Horse Trials Scotland’s premier equestrian showcase.
