A Perthshire farmer will be helping families in England enjoy the best of Scottish lamb this Christmas.
While traditional turkey will always remain a strong seller for festive tastes, M&S has called upon producers like fourth generation Perthshire farmer Scott Lambie to ensure a steady supply of finest Scotch lamb for tables in England.
British retailer M&S supports Scottish agriculture year-round by ensuring it stocks the best of Scottish beef and lamb.
However, families across the border are set to be the beneficiaries of a new seasonal approach by the brand, which means they, too, can find Scotch lamb on the shelves - until January 2026.
On the Lambie’s farm near Auchterarder in Strathearn, over 2000 breeding ewes and 150 breeding cows are managed, with the lamb principally grass-fed.
Breeds include Scotch Blackface, Scotch Mules and Texel crosses.
“We’ve been farming this land for generations,” said Scott. “Our lamb is almost entirely grass-fed and finished to meet the high standards customers expect.
“In the lead up to Christmas, supplying M&S means our lamb will now reach tables across England, not just here in Scotland where it’s always been a staple.”
Scott also highlighted the pride in delivering premium quality lamb: “Producing lamb to these exacting standards is a challenge, but the results are worth it when you hear how much customers enjoy the taste and quality.”
Sustainability and provenance have always been watchwords for M&S and Yuletide sales of Scotch lamb in England are expected to be steady.
A recent survey of 2000 UK adults showed that, while Turkey remains a strong yes for the traditionalists on Christmas Day, with 51% of respondents intending to buy, there is a generational move away from the festive staple.
