Customer record and new Hub for Perthshire pioneers

More thrill-seekers homing in on the region in January

A pioneering Perthshire company has enjoyed a record-breaking January as its ‘next level’ Adventure Hub edges towards completion.

Highland Fling, who opened the UK’s first permanent bridge bungee jump back in 2011, at Killiecrankie, has grown four-fold since its establishment, adding a bridge swing and zip park.

Now, after a record-breaking January for booking customers in 2025, the company has surpassed its own record, with even more thrill-seekers passing through its doors in January 2026.

‘Next level’

Furthermore, staff could be in situ at its new 57sq m Adventure Hub -comprising Reception Area and customer zone- prior to the summer peak, with building work now progressing at pace.

“This will take things to the next level for us,” said Murray Trail, Highland Fling founding partner and owner.

“It’s a no brainer. When we started out, in the current office, we were catering for 5000 paying customers. Last year, we did 20 000. It’s simple maths.

“We need the new space for meeting and greeting customers, doing check-ins and sales. It is specific to its needs and will help with the flow of customers at the site.

“Hopefully the windows will be added this week.”

Everything Flows

In summer, when Highland Fling attracts thousands of adventure lovers to its base at Killiecrankie, owned by National Trust for Scotland (NTS), queueing visitors and vehicles can see the car park become a bottleneck.

The new Reception will ease the logjam whilst enabling Highland Fling to enhance the visitor experience, potentially adding to its video and merchandise sales to people eager to have a memento of their daring escapade.

Perth and Kinross Council granted planning for the Adventure Hub last summer and, on current trajectory, staff could be moving in within 2/3 months.

Jobs bonus

An external seating area will also be added around the hub, with landlords NTS also set to benefit from more customers to its Jacobite Café which also operates at the site.

“We envisage the increase in people and professionalism will add to the number of adventure seekers which in turn will lead to more employment within Highland Perthshire,” said the supporting statement to planners.

Highland Fling already employs 10 full-time staff, with 25 seasonal employees at the season’s height.
