Photo by Richard WilkinsPerthshire’s premier football team has cemented 18 years of support for community charities by donating a raft of high value prizes to Perth Silent Auction.
St Johnstone manager Simo Valakari has helped kickstart the Auction which the title chasing McDiarmid Park club has supported since its inception in 2007.
Already businesses in Perth and Perthshire have donated over 240 LOTS and nearly 1000 BIDS have already been placed online for a range of prizes from pampering sessions and weekends away to business services and seasonal firewood.

That prize has already amassed 8 bids and a highest bid of £380 so far while 9 bids are in for 6 tickets each for forthcoming matches against Morton and Dunfermline.
Fans can also bid for footballs signed by their heroes.
Another hospitality package for four has been generously donated by Johnstone’s Paints, with another 9 bids already tabled. Click here to view.
Valakari said: “St Johnstone are proud of their community ties and the club is delighted to show our support for the Rotary Club’s annual fundraiser. They always get a fantastic result, thanks to businesses and all the people who bid for the items which have been donated.
“St Johnstone’s hospitality has won many awards and this is a great chance to cheer on the team in style and support deserving causes at the same time.”
This year’s Silent Auction is backing the Cornhill Palliative Care Unit at PRI, ANDYSMANCLUB and Perth in Bloom, along with various Rotary charities.
St Johnstone have provided ANDYSMANCLUB with a free room for their Monday sessions, ever since the Perth group began.
The Rotary club, too, meets weekly at McDiarmid Park and auction convener David Lindsay welcomed St Johnstone’s backing.
He said: “Saints have been with us from the start and it’s fantastic to team-up with the club again. The hospitality package always generates a bidding battle and this year, with the team playing easy on the eye attacking football, it’s sure to be the case once again.”
This is the 18th year of the auction and more than £500,000 has been raised. Lots go under the hammer on Saturday, December 13. To lodge bids, or to donate lots, see www.perthsilentauction.co.uk
*PBN is supporting this year’s auction and we will have a round-up of some of the best (and most intriguing) lots later this week, so look out for it.
