Perthshire’s biggest Auction for charity now underway

Deserving causes set to benefit before Christmas with some premium lots now accepting bids.

The 17th Perth Silent Auction opened today with organisers hoping to push beyond the £500 000 already raised to date for deserving Perthshire charities.

Now in its 18th Year (there was a 12 month stop for Covid), this year’s Auction will benefit men’s suicide prevention charity ANDYSMANCLUB, Beautiful Perthshire and the Palliative Care Unit at Perth Royal Infirmary.

Rotary Club of Perth established the Auction in 2007 as a way for the Perthshire business community to give something back to hard-pressed charities, who do great work whilst facing ongoing funding challenges.

A source of pride

Today, Auction Convener David Lindsay admitted he was ‘very proud’ of what has been achieved to date for the community, urging businesses and individuals to play their part again.

“The generosity of local businesses never fails to astound me,” he said.

“The Auction finishes in December and the idea is for people to get things they can give as Christmas gifts, whether that is a special bottle of malt whisky or a weekend away, there is something for all budgets.

“Yes, there are champagne dinners but equally you can get a ton of logs – with the temperatures we’ve been having this week- a ton of logs would be very welcome!”

Last year’s Auction raised over £32 000 and already a very diverse range of lots have been donated, from a one hour helicopter ride for 2 with Simon Howie ‘The Scottish Butcher’, to boutique get-aways, pampering sessions and an annual favourite – a load of dung, donated by A Ritchie and Sons, worth £55.
